ANNUAL PLANT GATE COLLECTION FOR CHRISTMAS HAMPER FUND

On Wednesday, December 8th and Thursday, December 9th, CAW Local 2301 volunteers will once again be at the plant gates for the annual Christmas hamper drive.

Monies collected are donated to the Kitimat Help Agency, which purchases food hampers for the needy families of our community.

Kitimat Works Employees (Hourly, Staff & Consultants) have been historically generous at this time of year. Please keep the tradition going.

STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING BULLETIN

The Special Steering committee meeting held on Tuesday, November 16th, 2010, comprised of Union Shop Stewards, OHS&E Reps, and other Union committee reps, gave clear direction to the Union Executive. The Company’s LEAN program is a program designed to reduce good Union jobs and increase Contracting Out. There is nothing in the Company’s LEAN program that helps our members.

Safety pre-shift meetings need to be kept separate from the Company’s LEAN program. Article 20 of the CLA – Safety, Health and Environment – should not be mixed with LEAN.

OHS&E COUNCIL MEETING

Nominations are still open for the positions of Recording Secretary of the OHS&E Council Executive and Org 8 Chief Area Rep.

TALK WITH THE UNION BEFORE SIGNING CONTRACTS

ARTICLE ONE of the current Collective Labour Agreement states:

1.03 (a) The Company recognizes the Union as the exclusive collective bargaining representative as to the rates of pay, hours of work, or other conditions of employment, of all the employees for whom the Union has been certified.

VACATION SCHEDULING

The Union has requested that the Company start booking the 2011 vacation scheduling as per the current CLA Article 13-LU-#1.

1. The normal vacation scheduling period will be the two (2) months prior to the start of the calendar year (November 1st).
