The Company approached the President and Business Agent April 20th, 2010 with a Company presentation. We listened and understood but did not agree with the Company. On April 22nd, 2010 Company representatives come back with another revised presentation at which time the Union still never agreed to but understood.
It should be no surprise to the membership that with the recent closure of Kitimat’s second largest employer, Eurocan, that the District of Kitimat will be faced with a corporate tax revenue shortfall of approximately $4.7 million beginning in 2011.
For over 40 years, the CAW has offered a two-week family education program for members and their families. If selected by the local/national union to attend, the member agrees to give up his/her vacation time and the national union covers all costs of the program including travel and accommodation.
There are still tickets available for the Christams Dances. Please call or come by the hall. Tickets are $25 each. Please remember we can only accept cash or cheque. These dances are always a good time!

The Union has one opening for a full time EFAP coordinator. The position is open to all active members of CAW Local 2301 who will be available to meet with employees and members of their immediate family on a confidential basis to assist them with their concerns in a wide range of personal problems.
The Union has requested that the Company start booking the 2010 vacation scheduling as per the current CLA Article 13-LU-#1.
1. The normal vacation scheduling period will be the two (2) months prior to the start of the calendar year (November 1st).
The following are a number of questions and answers, which frequently come up as per vacation scheduling.

On Friday September 11th, 2009 the Union Executive held a strategy session in order to address specific challenges facing the Union. As a result of members’ questions and the ongoing debacle at city council, one of the topics on the agenda was the Union’s position on power sales and the Kitimat Modernization Project (KMP).
