SHOP STEWARDS MEETING There will be a very important Shop Stewards Council meeting. All Shop Stewards are asked to please make every effort to attend this important meeting. EXECUTIVE POSITION VACANCY & ELECTION

EXECUTIVE POSITION VACANCY & ELECTION One SERGEANT AT ARMS position on the Executive Board has become vacant and nominations for election to this position are now open. Nomination forms are available at the Union Hall. To be eligible for election, a member must be in continuous good standing for one year prior to nomination. Nominations will close on Friday, June 11th at 4pm. An election, if necessary, will be held on Tuesday, June 22nd at the Union Hall. Polls will be open from 6am to 8pm. From the Local Union By-laws the duties of Sergeant At Arms are:

FLIGHT PASSES

FLIGHT PASSES The Union has approximately 50 one-way flight passes (25 round trips) available to the membership. The passes are being made available on a first come, first serve basis through Elan Travel. These passes cover western Canada and are good for travel from Terrace to Vancouver or as far as Manitoba, Vancouver Island or the Northwest Territories. Travel using these passes must be COMPLETED by June 30, 2010 The cost of each flight pass is $235.15 (or $468.30 for a round trip) plus applicable administration fees.

Notice To All OHS&E Reps

MEMBERSHIP MEETING The next General Membership Meeting is scheduled for: Thursday, May 27th 7PM Union Hall All members are encouraged to attend.

UNION BULLETIN

The Union and Company met and started discussions on the potential of starting full capacity from Lines 1C to 5B and also to try and keep Line 7 & 8 operating. The Union’s position is simply that the Company should just hire full time positions. However, the Union is also prepared to discuss alternatives.

LINE 7 & 8 POTS AND WORK ASSIGNMENTS The Company approached the President and Business Agent April 20th, 2010 with a Company presentation. We listened and understood but did not agree with the Company. On April 22nd, 2010 Company representatives come back with another revised presentation at which time the Union still never agreed to but understood.

SPECIAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING Please Note Revised Date Thursday, February 25th @ 7pm At the Union Hall It should be no surprise to the membership that with the recent closure of Kitimat’s second largest employer, Eurocan, that the District of Kitimat will be faced with a corporate tax revenue shortfall of approximately $4.7 million beginning in 2011.

2010 Family Education Program Application Deadline - Feb 23, 2010 - NOON

2010 CAW Family Education Program For over 40 years, the CAW has offered a two-week family education program for members and their families. If selected by the local/national union to attend, the member agrees to give up his/her vacation time and the national union covers all costs of the program including travel and accommodation.
